AA Losing AK

AA losing to AK

I'm in an online tourny and I'm at the final table of 9. I'm number 3 in chips. I have been sitting out about 12 hands because I couldn't catch any decent pocket cards and a couple of guys at the table are maniacs that call everything. I've watched these morons chase down to the river and catch. I'm playing very tight and trying to let the maniacs take each other out while maintaining my chip position.

Anyway, I finally catch the hand that you dream about. That's right, pocket AA. I place a decent size bet to weed out the competition. It works beautifully. One guy calls, and one of the maniacs goes all in over the top of me. The rest fold. Of course there's only one thing I can do with American Airlines so I call which puts me all in as well. The non maniac folds. Me and the maniac heads up. I'm looking at more than doubling my stack and even better...eliminating one of the maniacs. The cards are flipped up and he has AKos. He made the right move and so did I. I'm feeling pretty confident now because there are only a couple hands that can beat me. The flop comes out...4 8 K. I'm still feeling pretty confident. His possible straight is gone and even if he catches an A I've still got him. Here comes the turn...2. I can smell the scent of victory in the air. Here comes the River...K. Once again the maniac prevails.

Luckily it was online and I was in my own living room and my wife wasn't home. The explatives that I unleashed may have offended her. I was playing great poker and making the best of bad hands until I hit my best hand and lost everything. I finished out of the money and went to bed a great big LOSER.

Thanks for providing a place to vent with people who understand.
