Ace On The River

At a $1-$2 no limit game at a local spot...

I was the small blind and the dealer dealt the cards. I peeked at my hand, JJ... Not my favorite hand, but i decided it's worth a shot...

3 players limp in and it was my turn. I bumped it up to $12, slightly hoping i would steal the pot. big blind folds, as well as 2 others, but the player to the right of me, on the button, calls. I quickly put this guy either on high overcards or pockets. The flop came and it was rags, 7-3-9. Great flop for me, so i bet $25. My opponent hesitates, then quickly calls... next card is a 6, making it 7-3-9-6...

I checked the community for any flush possibilities, none, and my opponent certainly didnt have an 8-10... The only possible hand that could kill me would be trips or a higher pocket pair, but how this guy was playing, i didn't think he had it. He had about $40-45 and i had $85-90 left, so I said, "I put you all in." Everyone made an "ooo" sound, and my opponent looks at me. "pockets?" I look down and I sit still, not saying a word. Did i make a mistake I thought to myself.

After a minute of thinking, my opponent calls, I show my J's and he shows an A2... "Ace High?!?!" What the hell is this guy thinking calling me with Ace high. The dealer flips the river, an ACE! Bloody hell, I was on tilt the rest of the night and eventually lost it all....

Ciao,

Ivan
